Having established themselves as purveyors of fine, Middle Eastern-inspired fare, Disco Halal has decided to apply their magic touch to South American music, with the assistance of specialists Selvagem and Carrot Green. As usual, the emphasis is on blending obscure source material with original music and production. This works particularly well on "Vandre", where an acoustic samba number is turned into a bubbling, Balearic house gem via glistening electronics, synthesized marimba lines and metronomic beats. Marvin and Guy go even further on their remix, turning in a blissful deep house chugger. Flip for the low-slung Brazilian disco-funk of "Dengo" and "Ossain", a misty-eyed, sunrise house number blessed with all manner of (sampled) Brazilian instrumentation.
