Brazilian bassist, composer and producer Alberto Continentino has spent his life bridging jazz, funk and MPB with experimental electronic. He steps into a leading role with new album Cabeca A Mil E O Corpo Lento, which is packed with material built from electric bass figures, soft-focus synth pads and lightly syncopated drums. Vocals are often female-led and drift between spoken phrasing and melody while relaying texts by Silvia Machete and Negro Leo. There are whispered, late-night sounds like 'Manjar De Luz', sunny lullabies like 'A Palavra Rio' and star-gazing gems like 'Madrugada Silente' which all make this an instant Latin classic.
