Chasing Light covers remarkable stylistic ground from the frenetic breakbeats and siren synths on 'Nothing to Lose' to the strings-laden harmonic lusciousness on the title track. There are Afrobeat syncopations on 'Inner Circles' and rugged hip-hop swagger on 'Honest' and all come with the conviction of a band able to speak their own language. The balance between live explosiveness and careful post-production layering is precisely judged and makes this another doozy from one of Berlin's most vital jazz groups.
