Mammo returns to Heaven Smile under his 2601 alias with a characteristically lean two-tracker that follows hot on the heels of his latest Short Span album. There isn't even so much as a title here to distract from the two sides of high-quality techno from one of the scene's increasingly compelling figures. The opening A-side cut is hypnotic, rhythmically assured and carries an inward-facing intensity. On the flip, a minimal rhythm has dry hi-hats and tinging synths, static fizz and a generally post-human essence that makes it all the more of a trip.
