Originally released in 1988, the self-titled debut album from original Misfits vocalist Glenn Danzig, has gone on to become as equally adored a work in the punk and metal spectrums as any of his prior band's output. Initially conceived by expanding on material first penned for his death-rock project Samhain, with tracks such as "Twist of Cain" and "Possession", the writing sessions would encourage Danzig to finally push out on his own, combining his macabre punk, metal and blues proclivities into one sultry brand of dark rock, aided as such by legendary producer Rick Rubin, with the album even being the first to be distributed via Rubin's Def American imprint. Most notable for the inclusion of lead single 'Mother', which would help the record to reach Platinum selling status in the US, it remains Danzig's highest selling work whilst Metallica's James Hetfield would provide backing vocals for "Twist of Cain" and "Possession", both uncredited due to label issues.
