Danish duo Laid Back famously helped define the Balearic pop sound with their singles and albums of the 1980s, but unlike many of their contemporaries, they have continued to serve up music periodically ever since. Born To Fly, their first album for two years, delivers nine more reasons to be cheerful in their distinctively languid, quietly colourful style. There's much to enjoy, from the dubby bossa-pop shuffle of 'Born To Fly', the chugging, slo-mo Balearic disco-pop of 'Step In To My Limousine', and the sun-soaked loveliness of 'Give Me a Fire', to the sunshine reggae skank of 'Pure Sunshine', the deep house haziness of 'Bohemian Soul', and the classical guitar-laden sunset shuffle of future Balearic classic 'Spanish Fly'.
