If you're into Mazzy Star and The Sundays then the Slowdive-adjacent band from Reading Mojave 3 will be right up your alley. The 4AD-signed hazy indie sorts have a lackadaisical quality that you can't dial in; you have to really feel these emotions and the performer has to allow themselves to be a conduit for something greater than themselves and Mojave 3 land every line like an arrow to the heart. Highlights on this debut album, originally released in 1995, include 'Tomorrow's Taken', which has a goosebump inducing quality to their often sad, richly layered sound that is underpinned by acoustic guitar and brush stroke drums and decorated with stately cello strings. 'You're Beautiful' sounds like Nick Drake and 'After All' leads with a piano-like arpeggio and a Syd Barret-esque pastoral psychedelia vocal is the magnet to which the instruments lean towards and create a majestically evocative atmosphere.
