Trailblazing London jazz fivesome Ezra Collective - Femi Koleoso, TJ Koleoso, Joe Armon-Jones, James Mollison and Ife Ogunjobi - embark upon one of their "most ambitious and personal records" yet, handling the many branching styles of Afro-diasporic music with grace and flair. Tracing the webbed movements Black people across musical movements and continents in a single sonic binder, Here Because Of Hope has a single fact in mind: that Black music has always remained fundamentally joyful, despite centuries of oppression. That alone is the inspiration for a record studded with collabs with the likes of Pa Salieu, Lila Ike and Leona Lewis, all converging to make a fierce impression, carrying the core tenet that love trumps all.
