"Portuguesa" features 14 songs and was produced by Carminho. The Portuguese Fado star contributed some of the lyrics and traditional Fado compositions, alongside other songwriters. Reflecting on the album's creation, she says: "'Portuguesa' is the result of ten days of intense work at Namouche Studios in March 2022, yet it also incorporates the two years leading up to that time. I am always searching for that very special sensation of vertigo—that moment where I can discover my identity through new combinations of the same fundamental ingredients. This is my story, my origins, my influences, and the music in which I truly find myself." Fado is Carminho’s life, and few other singers bring as much power, passion, and depth to this Portuguese musical form as she does. By fully dedicating herself to this profound, traditional genre, she creates new traditional Fados that bear her own distinctive mark. Through deep reflection on the essence of Fado, Carminho explores various combinations within the canon and reimagines the form, moving through this familiar element as naturally as a fish in water.
