Makam was once hugely productive, but in recent years his release schedule has slowed to a crawl. He hasn't been slacking, though; in fact, he's used that time to record a sophomore album, which will drop on Dekmantel later this year. This 12" provides a sneak peak of what to expect. A-side "Riding High" is something of a triumph, and thrillingly hard to describe. It feels a little like a tropical take on Isolee's "Beau Mot Plage", with rich, jammed-out organs and bouncy, smartly programmed percussion. In contrast, flipside "San Thadet" is one of the most beautiful ambient compositions you'll hear all year, and comes complete with twittering clarinets, tropical bird noises and effortlessly humid electronics.
