SIde A. Free Soul 1969
The groove is heavy too ñ and a popular hip hop sample ñ but really itís all about Klemmerís blisteringly intense, stream of consciousness freak-out.
Been sampled over 16x from INI to Ed O G & Da Bulldogs to Kurious, Akinyele, Dred Scott to name a few. Klemmer just wyles out on the sax keep that Psychedelic funk moving!!
Side B. Up Above the Rock Edit 1968
You wonít find too many jazz songs that start with a drum break, but then this is probably one of the better jazz/soul hybrids Iíve heard in some time. Produced by Richard Evans this song is a perfect display of acoustic jazz funk with Ron Carter & Grady Tate filling out the Rhythm section.
Dance Floor classic!!!
