Japan DJ and producer Loftsoul, aka Uchikawa, reunites long-distantly with fans with the 'Reunion' EP: clocking at nearly eleven minutes of purple, pulsing depth, where Tou Nanase's keys and Hideki Ikeuchi's guitar weave expansive, garrulous solos. 'Slow Dancer' channels Afrobeat heritages through Fela-inspired keyboard lines, while impressions of modern Afro-house hoo-ha and lurch towards inspired, post-dance digressions. The EP closes with 'Backroom', balancing shadowy textures and a subtle light, making intense but laid-back use of a sleepy spoken-rap vocal: "everybody's moving in the backroom, they're waiting for the sun to rise, we move a little closer in the backroom, feeling deeper cos we know it's our time..."
