Faith Beat mark their twelfth release with Automatic House, the debut full-length from Italian producer Pancratio, an local favourite and new signee to Faith Beat after years of self-releasing through his own imprint Onetriptoavyon. An unusual speed garage and house double LP spread, Pancratio's eight tracks trace a supple balance from propulsion to restraint, stitching slapping grooves over well-swaddled basslines and growls. The title nods to hidden processes - "there are internal things we are not conscious of, which are automatic", in the words of the artist - as 'Are You Listening', 'Automatic House' and 'Leave Me Alone' revolve around copyright-free samples and eerie one shot vocals, in truest style. While could believe these were all made three decades ago, closing 'Groove Throtter #2' is has an especially deep charm to it, wresting things back to a place of future-past emotional memory.
