Jon Jones has lined up some seriously good releases to announce the arrival of his deliberately eclectic Love Universal label, starting with this two-tracker from New York based Bristol exile (and former Wild Bunch founder member) Milo Johnson AKA DJ Nature. Joined by guitarist Ron Pacaud and keyboard soloist Fred McFarlane, Johnson delivers contrasting takes on a track titled 'Grand Rising'. The A-side 'Child's Play mix' is a deep, hypnotic and genuinely immersive soundscape in which clipped and flanged guitars, expansive electric piano solos, krautrock style analogue synths and unearthly ambient chords combine with a sparse, cymbal heavy (and drum-free) rhythm - ambient house for the 2020s! Johnson delivers a more classic-sounding, Ron Trent style deep house version on the flip ('Mix Two'), which we can see getting plenty of club plays.
