For the most part, the Satya label's releases do an excellent job in blurring the boundaries between tech-tinged deep house and 21st century progressive house (itself more indebted to deep house than, say, prog records of the 1990s). Prolific Romanian producer Mihai Pol's first outing on the label fits this brief, with title track 'Ebb and Flow' wrapping a crunchy, tech-splashed deep house beat in moody bass, spacey electronics and tons of atmospheric sonic details. 'Before Berlin' sees Pol combining funky, loose-limbed deep house drums with typically mind-mangling tech-house electronics, while 'Pitched Drums' is a chunkier and more percussion-rich affair underpinned by pleasingly squelchy bass. Finally, 'Gbus' sees him add deliciously deep chords, starry motifs and mazy acid lines to a sub-heavy bassline and more snare-heavy drums.
