Danish producer Nathaniel Zaks brings his DJ Central project to pal DJ Popup's NES label for a third time, returning to the imprint after two years away. There's something pleasingly breezy, sun-kissed and warming about opener 'Grn', where rising and fall synthesiser melodies and ambient pads cluster around an unfussy deep house beat. 'Don't Matter' is a bigger, bolder and more densely layered affair, with Zaks successfully working gorgeous loops and Autotune-enhanced vocal samples, while 'Peppi' is a more thickset, locked-in and dubby chunk of late-night hypnotism. 'Blink', meanwhile, fixes spacey tech-house sonics and deep space electronics to a heady, West Coast style deep house groove.
