If you would have asked us a while back, we would never have guessed that Dax J's next move would come on Scotland's legendary Soma imprint, but in hindsight, it makes perfect sense that the artist's effective and militant quasi techno would land on this powerhouse of a label. "Sonic Drones" is a tune that makes no compromises and focuses solely on the dance floor by levitating people with its vicious kick drums, and while "Rawfield" is relatively more playful and uplifting, it is still very much centred around fast percussion stabs and dark dance vibes. Over on the B side, "Rebirth" adds a layer of monophonic bass to the artist's familiar beat crunch, and is followed by "West Bank", a wild and unforgiving punch in the face made up 909 kicks and dubby licks. A powerful affair.
