Early Sounds Recordings mainstay Mystic Jungle (AKA producer Dario Di Pace) has been busy of late, largely with the offshoot Mystic Jungle Tribe project (the Qvisisana mini-album, produced alongside regular collaborators Raffaele Acrella and Enrico Fierro, was arguably one of the most underrated releases of 2016). This tasty 7" is actually his first solo material for some time, and once again sees him exploring and synthesizer-heavy sound that draws influence from jazz-funk, boogie, and the kaleidoscopic dreaminess of late '80s Italian deep house. "Shangri La Investigation", with its' chiming melodies and D-Train style synth squiggles, is particularly good, though the more humid and Balearic-minded "The Late Night Investigations" is also excellent.
