Publicity-shy Japanese producer Ground first came to our attention earlier in the year thanks to the kosmiche-goes-deep techno hypnotism of debut single "Logos". Here, the Osaka-raised artist unveils a debut album that expands on that thrilling first missive, variously joining the dots between melodious, off-kilter lo-fi techno, attractive experimental deep house, hard-to-pigeonhole high-tempo ethno-techno workouts (see the bonkers but brilliant "Hanasai"), low-slung dancefloor weirdness ('Feel It", the insane jazz cut-up "Koot Works") and drowsy, sunrise-friendly brilliance (album highlight "Sunizm"). It's a curious set, all told, but one that wholeheartedly impresses from start to finish, with Ground supplying enough curious touches and aural textures to suggest that repeat listening is essential.
