Mirt is a founding member of Saamleng - label devoted to pure field recordings and a co-founder of Xaoc Devices - manufactory producing modular synths.
These two activities are intertwined with his music and the influence goes from one project to another and vice versa.
"Decaying Land" is a companion album to "Vanishing Land" released three years ago; a soundtrack to an imaginary land colonised by the garbage of reality.
"Decaying Land" is about the nature of society, but its keynote is hidden under a colourful sonic texture. While at first glance the album seems to be very homogeneous, its building blocks are quite diverse. From almost ethereal, beatless soundscapes echoing new agey bliss through quite complex, yet still ambient structures made by mixing field recordings, glitches and modular drones to kaleidoscopic throbbing polyrhythmic patterns somewhere between post-techno and tribal music. From organic textures rich in subtle saturation through particles of acoustic sounds to glassy synthetic bursts of shredded melodies.
