The fact this intricate EP kicks off with a remix title paying homage to the late, great Andrew Weatherall, with the next track remixed by Ivan Smagghe and Rupert Cross, tells you everything about the full package. Electronic music that can be framed and held up as genuinely exploratory 21st century artistry just as easily as it can be described as trippy and low slung.
Smagghe and Cross's take on 'Zwei' is the exception, but even this slice of strange, beguiling ambience - perhaps what the first messages from an alien life form could sound like - has the potential to be used for knife-edge, set building purposes. 'Krautback' is a sleeping giant of deep, locked, broken acid rhythms, while 'Mungolian Jetset' plays on our emotional vulnerability with a deceptively euphoric rolling beauty, finally giving way to a closing track that would make an appropriate tribute to Weatherall's groundbreaking Sabres of Paradise project. Buy it, basically.
