Talk about reasons to be thankful. Together as Psyche Stephen Huss and brother Darrin made some incredibly inventive, lightyears ahead of their time music and more people need to get on the end of their stuff. As the crew at the Artificial Dance imprint clearly agree, given they've decided to compile six of the pair's finest tracks recorded between 1983 and 2005 on this intriguing and engaging album. We ain't worthy.
It's hard to put too fine a point on things, but there are elements of electro, space-disco, coldwave and slo mo progressive dance music at play throughout, with the entire package asking a lot of your mind while also playing straight for the body and feet. Weird stepping funk breaks and stabs of low end ('Rattlesnake'), big room retro cosmic builders ('Eternal City', 'Marooned In Step Time'), and a chase sequence through early video games ('Galactic'). Exceptional.
