Eclectic Icelandic producer NonniMal offers up a sublime debut album here in the form of Hverfisgata. Known for taking his own unique path, he carries on in that tradition here with a record brimming with atmospheric soundscapes and rumbling bottom ends. There is a healthy about of dub weight to each tune, with inventive rhythmic programming and lo-fi chords adding the fog, mist and dirt. The widescreen vistas and futuristic melodies of 'Klapparstigur' make for an early highlight, while 'Blida' is a brilliantly eerie and empty jam. The tempos change, the mood varies, but the quality levels never dip throughout this mini masterpiece.
