Now firmly established as a signature name on Central Processing Unit, German producer Blackploid delivers another twelve-track transmission of tightly coiled electro and freewheeling machine funk. This second LP for the Sheffield label builds on the sound he's honed since 2021: Drexciyan propulsion meets melodic sci-fi hooks, but with a looser, more playful sensibility. Tracks like 'Alien' and 'World Construction' snap with that classic broken rhythm, all piston-crack drums and analogue sparkle, while 'Multiverse' throws things off-axis with queasy pads and lurching synth tones. Elsewhere, 'The Lab' recalls John Carpenter at his most eerie-single-note pulses floating through midnight haze-while 'Species' and 'Polar Dunes' balance cold, crystalline melodies against skittering propulsion. It's a record made with confidence and a clear command of the form, each track offering its own distinct logic without straying from the club-ready chassis. Everything clicks into place on 'Contact', a slick closer that revs with a sense of warped velocity-like you're speeding through the outer limits in a chrome-plated pod. Peak CPU gear from a mainstay now fully in his stride.
