DÜPĄ is Piotr Marek’s (1950-1985, Kraków), own project. He founded the band in Kraków in 1981 and operated until 1985. The band was one of the most avant-garde, experimental and unique underground phenomena created in Poland in the eighties.

The author himself defined his project as follows:

"DÜPĄ – PERSONAL DEFINITION

The name of the band is a word element of anthropomorphic origin expressed by a feminine noun of the first declension.

The DÜPĄ is a creative group – open to all who want to act creatively in the fight against commercialism and eclecticism. The band is a music and theatre band basing its activity on professionals and amateurs of various fields of art. Under the slogan once proclaimed by the creative group NOWA IMPROWIZACJA “Collective creativity releases moral values”, the band, through it’s free behavior on stage and musical and acting improvisations, tries to paraphrase different types of music and the behavior on stage of rock, rge, rege, reggae, ska, sky stars, etc.

The band is led by Piotr Marek, a member of ZPAP, who treats the band as his creative activity. In agreement with the band, as the main inspirer, Piotr Marek is the owner of the copyrights to the entire band's activity. The DÜPĄ band changes its program depending on the place and time of activity. The DÜPĄ – personal representative, band does not have any songs, the band has a program that should be treated as a whole.

All earnings of the DÜPĄ band are intended for the development of the band's creativity."
