Gatefold 'coke bottle' clear vinyl 2xLP (indie exclusive)
Leftfield turns to left-bog, as our favourite cult-verging-on-outsider rapper Billy Woods' most outre oddball hears a reissue ten years on. Today, I Wrote Nothing edged into wider attention after a period of silence following 2012's History Will Absolve Me and 2013's Dour Candy; he reemerged in 2015 with this 24-track labyrinth, which feels attentively recast in the light of the artist's most recent dream-distortion and spirit rap all hallows' eve, Golliwog (2025). With a clipped verbal starkness, TIWN stood in contrast to the maximalist sound and sharp satire of its predecessors, and outside of a single lo-fi video for 'Flatlands', it arrived nearly unannounced and at first confused listeners. Reissued now by the cottage outlet Backwoodz Studioz, TIWN serves as a hinge between the clarity of earlier works and the relatively fractious but inward path that followed.
