While Steffi and Virginia have been life and studio partners for a long time, it was only earlier this year that they delivered their second jointly credited album, Patterns of Vibration - a set of attractive, entertaining songs underpinned by predictably impressive house and techno grooves. This 12", the first of a pair, provides vocal-free takes on four killer cuts from the set. Opener 'Nightflight' is thickset, driving and atmospheric, with swirling, soundtrack-style synth strings wrapping around the duo's infectious techno beats, while 'Touching U' blurs the boundaries between revivalist bleep & bass, acid and deep house. Over on side B, they first unfurl the jaunty stabs and clanking drum machine percussion of '7 In The Morning', before reaching for more sparkling synths and a deliciously futurist vibe on 'Under This World'.
