Dutch producer Coco Bryce, best known for his breakbeat-driven jungle releases, takes a left turn on the 12" I Eleni for his own Myor massive. Swapping chopped amen breaks for bouzouki riffs, Bryce draws a rare line from Greece to Finland, winking all the way from A-side 'I Eleni' to wiring folk string figures round lopsided bass patterns as on the likes of 'Alaniara', which twists the same palette into a woozy, synthetic groove. A playful nod to late 2000s experiments in low-slung funk, this record shows Bryce stretching his sound far beyond the junglist spectrum he's usually associated with; from drum & bass to down-tempered "dream & bass", if you will...
