Peacefrog has decided to offer up smart new editions of their two-part vinyl edition of Theo Parrish's frankly brilliant 1988 debut album First Floor, the set that did more than any other to define his distinctively dusty, sample-rich and atmospheric take on deep house. Like the simultaneously reissued first part, this second collection has been pressed to eye-catching 'smoky vinyl'. The album's five long, stretched out cuts are uniformly magnificent, from the collaged funk loops and loose-limbed deep house drums of opener 'Electric Alleycat', and the suspenseful, flanged guitar-sporting build of 'Dark Patterns', with its mutilated instrumental samples, to the out-there deep house/acid house fusion of 'Heal Yourself and Move' and the ultra-deep house jazziness of 'Sky Walking'.
