The inaugural release on the Place No Blame imprint comes from Offenbach-based oddball DJ Slyngshot. The Yappin Records' founder's slim discography is full of curious, off-kilter gems, and this 12" is no different. Interestingly, his original versions are tucked away on the flip, though both "OTown" (a loopy, dusty, organ-heavy jazz-house/MPC hip-hop hybrid) and "Ain't Got No Time" (a tougher, more locked-in jazz-house groover) are impressive. The A-side is instead taken up by Japan Blues re-makes of the same tracks. The championed producer teases out the head-nodding aspects of "OTown" whilst adding some distorted low-end grunt, before delivering a wonky, surging, synth-laden re-shape of "Ain't Got No Time".
