US guitar virtuoso Cory Wong recorded his new album with the Dutch Metropole Orkest, whose versatility, capable of playing both classical and groove-based music, fascinated him during a joint concert series. Accordingly, he refined his vision with additional writers, arrangers, and participating musicians, blending with the 50-piece orchestra into a single entity and conveying his hard groove and funk elements in a new, softer way. The result spans a spectrum from hard-hitting smashers ("Burning," "Starship Syncopation") to emotionally cinematic music ("Quotidian Fields" feat. Bruce Hornsby).
