While his music has never been embraced by the cooler end of the 21st century disco scene, Tino Piontek AKA Purple Disco Machine has long been one of nu-disco's most talented and popular producers - an artist whose vibrant and beefed-up updates of the 1970s and 80s disco template manage to be floor-friendly, entertaining and oddly addictive. Further proof of his abilities (not that more were needed) arrives via 'Ghost Town', another anthem-in-the-making that pairs Retrosonix's Chic-style vocals with the over-the-top-disco surge of Cerrone, the synth squelch of nu-disco, and the low-end weight of disco-house. It's best enjoyed in its' A-side full vocal form, but the expertly arranged and produced flip-side instrumental mix is also great.
