Having previously delivered seven largely brilliant re-edit EPs via the 'SIRS Cuts' series, Daniel Klein AKA SIRS has now decided to deliver some "Maximal Max Cuts" of largely well-known songs. That's not meant as a criticism, as on A-side opener 'Time of My Life' he's managed to turn a famous 1980s duet from Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes into an extended, club-ready workout that wisely foregrounds the big studio synth-pop-meets-AOR disco groove that's largely fairly well hidden on the original. The baggy shirt-friendly 1980s AOR synth-pop-meets-Balearic flex continues on the delay-laden, eyes-closed warmth of 'Let Us Dance Just a Little Bit More', before Klein successfully stretches out and rearranges Donna Summer's Moroder produced end-of-night anthem 'State of Independence', cannily extending the instrumental passages for maximum dancefloor effect.
