Tbilisi producer and multimedia artist Saphileaum aka Andro Gogibedashvili makes his debut on P&F with Tamalungma, a new LP hearing him continue to fascinate ancient mystical knowledge systems. Known for previous outings on Good Morning Tapes, Silent Season and Mule Musiq, his work draws as much from Georgian folklore as it does from deep listening traditions and ecological concern. Eleven balmy pieces drift aline ceremonial percussions and woozy environmental patterns: 'Kolkhuri', 'Moqua Well' and 'Oriental Art Of Symmetry' allude to historic archaeological excavations, but recurring flute textures and submerged rhythms also somewhat reinter the vibe. As ever, Saphileaum bends his usual ambient straits into a denser, complexer armature.
