The late Mika Vainio's Aste name resurfaces after two decades, reconnecting with the techno blueprint he helped forge in the early 90s. First out in 2006 but compositionally rooted in 1992-93, these drew directly from Vainio's years spinning raves from Finland to Russia with Hyperdelic House, where imported 12"s from Berlin and London inspired his own minimal techno makings. The EP transponds a lineage from earlier EPs ('Rontgen', 'Kvantti') and landmark album Metri. From the stark electro pulse of 'Spiraalit' to the shifting textures of 'Siimes', and the warped ambient collage of 'Kolmas'; all are album-length refrigerations of Vainio's hands-on, shapeshifting approach, one that would echo in works by fellows Richie Hawtin, Sleeparchive, and beyond.
