Something of a watershed moment here, as Eglo founder and all-round DJ hero Alex Nut finally makes his production debut. The Wolverhampton native showcases the depth of his soul on fittingly titled opener 'Andthenitstarted', where James Mellinson's snaking and effects-laden jazz sax rubs shoulders with spacey electronics and warming Rhodes keys above a shuffling, dubbed-out drum machine beat and toasty bass, before delivering some superbly immersive and dreamy downtempo soul on 'One 4 Santi' (featuring Sam Crowe). 'Anthenitstarted' gets remixed on the flip. Motor City maestro Matrice Scott ups the tempo and references the Detroit Experiment project on his sublime and seductive revision, while the Last Nubian rub is a deliciously percussive, deep and dubbed-out jazz-house masterpiece.
