In 2023, Talking Heads legend David Byrne was a guest vocalist for The Ghost Train Orchestra and Kronos Quartet live show when they played their Songs and Symphonies: The Music Of Moondog album in New York. The album featured Jarvis Cocker but Byrne wasn't on the album itself. Seemingly inspired by his time performing with them, Byrne enlisted the Brooklyn-based group The Ghost Train Orchestra to be his band on this new solo album of his. He also enlisted the artist turned producer Kid Harpoon to produce the album and his friend Annie Clarke (St. Vincent) guests on the gospel-tinged new single 'Everybody Laughs'. The second single, 'She Explains Things To Me' is wondrous slice of off-kilter pop with a 60s psychedelia feel, stately strings and clever counter melodies. We can be thankful for Byrne acting on his bright ideas and making this album come to life - he's got nothing left to prove to anybody and five decades into his career is still firing from all cylinders.
