This reissue unearths two gems from Egypt's golden era of popular music. On the A side, Leila Gamal's 'Abaleeh Abalingi' sways on a hypnotic organ groove, her voice balancing sweetness with yearning in a way that recalls the cinematic divas of Alexandria and Cairo in the late 60s. Written by Khairi Fouad, the track's lyrical finesse and infectious pulse made it a lost but enduring dancefloor cut. Flip it over and Adel Osman's 'Oriental Eyes' taps into the Franco-Arab current of the time, where jazz brass and Arabic melody intertwined. His smooth, bilingual delivery, underpinned by trumpet flourishes, radiates sophistication and subtle swing. Both sides, remastered from Sono Cairo archives, channel the spirit of a period when Egyptian music moved confidently between tradition and modernity.
