With a new remaster, Souma dive deeper into the golden-era archives of Lebanese and record label Voix De L'Orient with a rare 7" cut from Beirut's very own Georgette Sayegh and Melhem Barakat. 'Belghi Kull Mawaidi' hears Sayegh's velvet-soft voice phrased with Barakat's bold, theatrical delivery, conferring a melancholic duet about cancelling plans for love. First released in the 70s, it remains one of Sayegh's defining moments, a singer whose early obsession with vinyl shaped her distinct style: part chanson, part Levantine lullaby. Tracks such as this eventually led to her subsidy by the Rahbani dynasty and to perform works penned by Ziad Rahbani. On the flip, a stereo instrumental version lets the strings and brass do the heavy lifting, sweeping through the melody with drama and restraint.
