Since making his debut during the Covid-19 pandemic, Sam Ruffillo has been on a path to greatness. Thus far, he's released a string of colourful, vibrant and frequently genre-busting EPs for Toy Tonics, making Tipo Cosi, his much-anticipated debut album, a genuinely notable release. Full of trademark blends of Mediterranean colour, nostalgic house grooves, sweet female vocals and nods to Latin musical culture, freaky synth funk and Italo-disco, it's a playful, kaleidoscopic and hugely enjoyable affair. There are too many highlights to mention, but we're particularly enjoying disco-flecked salsa-house opener 'House Tifo Cosi', the synth-laden nu-disco joy of 'Ancora', Latin dub disco workout 'Amigo', driving NYC garage-house number 'Dentro Di Mi' and the piano house-with-dub-disco-grooves of 'Chiamami Subito'. Ten tons of fun with added Italian flair; what's not to like?
