With Selenites, Selenites!, Jimi Tenor presents the first album with his new band - a milestone in the career of the Finnish multi-instrumentalist, who celebrated his 60th birthday in 2025. Known for his genre-crossing vision, Tenor here unites Afrobeat, electronica, spiritual jazz, and experimental soundscapes into a powerful, organic sound. Since the 1990s, Tenor has been a defining figure in the international music scene with releases on labels such as Sähko and Warp Records. His collaborations with artists like Tony Allen, the UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra, and Florence Adooni demonstrate his openness to musical cultures and his ability to connect seemingly disparate elements. The Jimi Tenor Band was formed in Helsinki and consists of five virtuoso musicians who have tested and internalized their pieces live.
