In 1981, a little-known Brazilian singer named Luisa stepped into the studio with Azymuth - by then already deep into their work as one of the country's most prolific rhythm sections - and cut her first and only single. Now reissued for the first time by Far Out Recordings, Luisa pairs Luisa's restrained vocal style with a tightly arranged A-side, 'Romantica', with gliding synths and velvet sax lines from Jose Carlos Bigorna. The flip side, 'Lenha Na Fogueira', ramps the tempo with samba-funk grit courtesy of guitarist Paulinho Guitarra, plus vocals from the elusive group Arco Iris. Azymuth's Alex Malheiros admits the session's a blur - unsurprising, considering how busy he, Ivan Conti and Jose Roberto Bertrami were backing MPB artists at the time.
